Healthy People, Resilient Systems – at 2020

HEALTHY PEOPLE, RESILIENT SYSTEMS – AT 2020

by kkeeton | May 7, 2014

Current systems research which focuses on improving resilience does not account for the nutrition and health of people. Furthermore, many nutrition and health interventions do not integrate with other broader systems change.

At A4NH’s second side-event at the IFPRI 2020 Policy Consultation & Conference, titled, Healthy People, Resilient Systems, we aim to generate discussion and subsequent actions on how health and nutrition can be better integrated into the existing socio-economic / ecological systems agenda and contribute to building resilience. At this consultation, we hope to generate comments on current research experiences and potential ideas for future plans for integrating nutrition and health outcomes into development efforts for enhancing systems benefits and resilience.

Facilitated by Jeff Waage (University of London), presenters will include John McDermott (A4NH-IFPRI), Ann Tutwiler (Bioversity), and Francois Gasengayire (IDRC). The following discussants will enhance the conversation: Per Pinstrup-Andersen (Cornell University); Polly Ericksen (ILRI), Alex Awiti (Aga Khan University, Nairobi), and Bronwen Powell (CIFOR).

This session will be held on May 15th from 1230-1400 at the Sheraton Hotel, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Lalibela Room, 3A.
